Pete Riley Drumming Career

Riley was the lead singer of the famous band, Treehouse. Midway through the 1990s, Riley and his band, Treehouse, relocated from Liverpool to North Carolina in the US, where they made friends with Hootie & the Blowfish. Treehouse were the first artists signed to Hootie & the Blowfish’s Breaking Records label, a division of Atlantic Records, and they issued the full-length album Nobody’s Monkey in 1997. Treehouse’s lack of economic success led to the band’s dissolution shortly after. After the Parade was Riley’s first solo album, which he self-released.

Riley toured with South Carolina singer-songwriter Edwin McCain for several years beginning in April 2001. Riley made appearances on the albums Far From Over, The Austin Sessions, Scream and Whisper, and Lost in America. McCain’s cover of “Losing Tonight,” which first appeared on Nobody’s Monkey, can be found in Lost in America.

Riley returned to England after his time working for McCain, where he started songwriting with folk singer Amy Wadge in 2010. On March 17, 2011, Wadge and Riley released their debut album as a duo, entitled Rivers Apart. The album was followed by a UK tour. In May 2011, the pair made an appearance on BBC Radio Lancashire.
