Tom Cotton (officially known as Thomas Bryant Cotton) is an American attorney and politician currently serving as the Junior United States Senator for Arkansas. He has held the respective seat since the start of 2015 to date. Cotton is a devoted member of the Republican Party of the United States and has previously served in the United States House of Representatives. Cotton served in the House of Representatives for a period of three years between 2013 to 2015.

Cotton has also served in the army of the United States. He served in two combat deployments overseas and received a Bronze Star, two Army Commendation Medals, a Combat Infantryman Badge, a Ranger tab, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and an Iraq Campaign Medal throughout his tenure in the military.

Cotton was introduced to Chris Chocola, a former congressman and the president of Club for Growth, a Republican political action organization that became one of Cotton’s top funders, shortly after his mission in Afghanistan ended. Cotton pondered running against incumbent Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln in 2010, but decided against it owing to a lack of funding and the belief that it was too early. Cotton campaigned for Congress in Arkansas’s 4th congressional district after Democratic incumbent Mike Ross announced his retirement in 2011.
